Take your energy bills into your own hands

The ACC just approved yet another APS rate hike…

This one will increase the average Arizonan's energy bill by 13%! Why? So APS can invest our money into even more of their outdated, out of touch, and dangerous coal and natural gas infrastructure. These short signed investments mean we can expect our energy bills to continue to increase every year. On top of that, these investments will continue to jeopardize our national security – forcing us to depend on unstable countries and volatile international commodity prices to supply Arizona with energy. Any veteran will tell you – their strategy just doesn’t make sense anymore.

Fortunately, there are many other cleaner and cheaper energy options out there – and Arizona is ground zero for these innovative technologies. It’s time for Arizonans to push back and demand lower energy bills and better long term energy investments from our public utility. The ACC should be demanding the APS invests our hard earned money into energy efficiency, homegrown renewable energy, and other options that benefit our families with lower bills and our state with security.

Take action to push the ACC and APS to revisit their recent rate hike and think again – as a public utility, they need to put the public first, not shareholders.

In the meantime, thanks to the new clean energy incentives, passed by the Biden Administration and Congress, the Federal government has opened up a lot of opportunities to make investing in energy efficiency and clean energy upgrades for your home more affordable.*

Making these improvements more affordable, allows Arizonans to start controlling, and lowering, our energy bills right here at home. It’s also a clear sign to the ACC and APS that Arizonans are ready to be free and independent from outdated, polluting energy.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Having trouble paying to heat or cool your home? You may be eligible for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a federal program designed to assist low-income households in the United States with their home energy costs. LIHEAP provides critical support in the form of financial assistance to help individuals and families afford their energy bills, reduce the risk of energy-related crises, and ensure that vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and disabled, can maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.

The program can help recipients pay for heating or cooling expenses, weatherization services, reducing health and safety risks associated with extreme temperatures, and other energy-related crisis assistance – preventing utility disconnections and ensuring families do not have to make difficult choices between paying for essential needs like food, medical care, or heating their homes. On top of that, the Inflation Reduction Act, passed by Congress and the Biden administration in 2022 (Pub. L. 117–169, 136 Stat. 1818), has made clean energy more accessible and affordable to families in Arizona. Combining these federal incentives with local incentives can make it even cheaper to switch to cheaper, more stable energy sources for your home:
